Are you a Nintendo DS owner? Nintendo DS owners will have a number of options when it comes to what accessories they wish to purchase. There are many different types of accessories available for the Nintendo DS. The most popular accessory for the Nintendo DS is the R4 DS. The R4 DS is one of the most purchased accessories for the Nintendo DS. The R4 DS is a flash cart that can be used with the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DS Lite. You can use the flash cart to play games on the Nintendo DS that you can download on the internet for free.

Â

You can also use the R4 DS to turn your Nintendo DS into an iPod or a video player. You can play a number of downloadable games using the R4 DS. You can play commercial games such as Super Mario Pokemon and Mario Kart. You can also download and play homebrew games like Pacman and poker. You need two different items in order to use the R4 DS. You will need a Nintendo DS or a Nintendo DS Lite. You will also need a MicroSD cart. MicroSD Carts come in two different types. They are available in one GB styles which cost eight dollars and two GB styles which cost twelve dollars and fifty cents.

Â

When you purchase the R4 DS you will be shipped or given a package that contains a number of items. You will receive a USB Micro SD Card reader/writer which is used to read and write information to the Micro SD card. You will also receive the R4 DS Revolution TF Micro SD Adapter which is compatible with the DS and the DS Lite. You will also receive a silicone protector case. Do you own an Xbox 360? If so then you might eventually have to end up purchasing an Xbox 360 power supply.

Â

When you purchase an Xbox 360, you will be given a box that contains a number of items including the Xbox 360 gaming console. The box will also contain an Xbox 360 power supply. In order to play the Xbox 360 you will need a working Xbox 360 power supply. If you own your Xbox 360 console for a long time then you might need to purchase an Xbox 360 power supply in the future. You might end up losing your power supply cable whenever you have to move. Or your dog might chew up the cable leaving it useless.

Â

You will then need to purchase a new Xbox 360 power supply. You can purchase an Xbox 360 power supply either on the internet or from a local retail store. When you purchase a power supply from a retail store expect a more expensive price of around fifty five dollars. However, you will receive the item as soon as you pay for it. When you purchase an Xbox 360 power supply over the internet you should be able to find one for about forty five dollars. However, you will have to wait a few days for the item to get to you. When you purchase online you might also encounter shipping charges.

So How Do you Play the Big Blind?

Author: Daphne Greene

So how do you play the big blind, and what exactly is a protector? One answer takes about a minute, the other takes about a lifetime.

First, what is a protector? Put simply, a protector is someone who calls most pre-flop raises when they are a blind, particularly the big blind, no matter what they are holding. Generally speaking, there are more protectors in tournaments than in cash games as tournament pot odds often dictate playing cards that would rarely see the light of the river in cash games. The world’s staunchest protector right now is probably Phil Ivey.

Second, how do you play the big blind? Ultimately, this is a question that should be phrased “How do I play this big blind” which takes into account the multitudes of variables present at each different table, but for the sake of laying out some basic strategies, we’ll go through a common situation.

You are the big blind, you have 1000 in chips in front of you, blinds are 10-20, no ante yet, and there are 300 people left out of a 350 person no re-buy field. The table folds around to the button who raises to 60, the small blind folds. With the 60 chip bet, and the 10-20 blinds, that means that there are already 90 chips in the pot. As the big blind, if you call the additional 40, the flop would be the next thing that happens – no one else could raise or re-raise behind you.

Before you even look at your cards, you should be prepared to, at the very least, call, if not re-raise. You would be getting 9 to 4 on your money, meaning that for every 9 chips in the pot, you have to put in 4 to hang around. 9 to 4 is a little bit better than 2 to 1, and just about every pro in the world would tell you to call off anything which is less than 8% of your stack for 2 to 1 odds. And you’re already doing better than 2 to 1, so, mathematically speaking, you’re in business.

You check your cards, Jack-Nine of spades, suited connectors; now let’s size up this raise. Nothing reeks of a bluff more than a raise on the button, as most people, especially in a tournament, recognize that the only way to win is to take pots your cards wouldn’t give you. And the most common place to steal pots is from the button, where you are the last to act after the flop, and the most able to prey on others’ weaknesses. So a simple raise to 60, which is 3 times the big blind, from the button could easily be a bluff. Of course, as is always the case, it could also be a pair of aces.

A good re-raise here could very well be in order to determine exactly what this bettor has, and push them off of a marginal hand. If there are already 90 in the pot, 60 of which belong to the bettor, you have to raise enough that for them to call, mathematically, they could not be bluffing. If you just raise another 60 to 120 total, that would put 190 in the pot; they would be calling 19 to 6 on their money, better than 3 to 1! Somewhere around a 180 to 240 chip re-raise would definitely put the bettor to a decision, especially if they have a similarly sized stack to yours. Presumably, only a premium hand like Queens, Kings, Aces, or AK could call that kind of a raise, so I could very easily squelch a bluff and push a marginal hand like A10 or Sixes out with my measly J9.

While I would re-raise here to snuff out a bluff, you might not feel comfortable re-raising with a less-than-stellar hand like that. Fine, don’t re-raise, you have to remain comfortable at the poker table if you want to win. If you want to get better and win more, then you’ll have to come out of your comfort zone enough that eventually, you’ll have a different, bigger comfort zone. Either way, more of your chips should definitely be going into that pot to, at least, see the flop.

RULE: If the call is better than 2 to 1 on your money, less than 8% of your stack, pre flop, and you’re the big blind, you should be comfortable no matter what.

No one likes to raise Phil Ivey’s blind. Everyone knows that he is not only reluctant to give up his blind, he is very ready to re-raise with just about any two cards under the sun. This makes Phil a feared protector, and in a tournament, there is no better bettor than a feared one.

Glossary of Poker Terms Pt. 2

Author: Nick Laurrell

Sometimes poker players seem to be speaking in a different language. Here is a list of commonly used poker slang and terminology beginning with letters C – E so you can get acquainted with what players are actually saying.

Calling Station: A calling station is a player who calls (rather than raise, bet or fold) unusually often. They are considered to be the worst type of players. “I love playing with calling stations.”

Call-me bet or Sucker bet: This is a very small bet which seems to cry out to the opponent “Call me.” It is made when a player has a very strong hand and wants to be called. “He bet $1 on the river, how could I not call?”

Card Rack, Rack or Rush: When a player picks up a number of premium hands in a short period of time they are said to be a card rack, a rack, or on a rush. “He raised 12 hands in a row, he was just on a great rush.”

Check-raise: A check-raise is a high profile poker move where a player first checks then raises when someone bets. It is considered to be the strongest move in poker. “I had him trapped so I check-raised a sucker bet and had him priced in.”

Cold Deck: A single hand with several different players all possessing unusually strong cards. It is said to be a cold deck because poker cheats have been known to replace a live deck with an illegitimate pre-arranged “cold” deck to trick other players. “I had a full house, the lucky idiot had four-of-a-kind! How am I going to fold?! What a cold deck!”

Community Cards: These are cards that are put face up on the table and belong to everyone still in the hand at once. “I don’t like Hold’em because it becomes too inexact with all of those community cards.”

Computer Hand: The Queen-7 is referred to as the “computer hand” because it is mathematically the hand with the most average pre-flop strength in Texas Hold’em. “I usually call with anything better than the computer hand from the big blind.”

Cowboys: A pocket pair of Kings. I don’t know the epistemology behind “cowboys” but Kings are called cowboys just the same. “I love to look down and see cowboys.”

Crack Aces: Whenever you have beaten someone holding pocket Aces you are said to have “cracked Aces.” “Sure I lost the tournament, but I was holding Aces, sometimes they just get cracked.”

Dead Man’s Hand: A pair of Aces and a pair of eights to make two pair. This is referred to as the Dead Man’s Hand because Wild Bill Hickok was holding it when he was shot dead at the poker table. “I’ve made a lot of money with the Dead Man’s Hand, I don’t get what all the fuss is about.”

Defender or Protector: This is a player who calls most raises when he or she is a blind. They are said to be defending or protecting their chips which have already gone into the pot. “Phil Ivey is a famous defender.”

Deuce or Duck: A two. “Deuce on the flop means nothing.”

Dime: A dime is a $10,000 chip. “I’ve only ever bet a dime in a tournament.”

The Dolly Parton: 9-5 in the Hole. This nickname stems from Dolly’s song “Working nine to five.” “How does Dolly Parton have a poker hand named after her?”

Donkey: A bad player is referred to as a donkey. “The guy was such a donkey he called me with middle pair.”

Double Belly Buster Straight Draw: To have two inside straight draws simultaneously. “I was holding 4-5 and by the time we got around to the river the Board read A 2 7 8. I was looking for a 3 or a 6.”

The Doyle Brunson: The Doyle Brunson is an unsuited 10-2. It is called the Doyle Brunson because Doyle won two consecutive WSOP Main Events holding 10-2. “I love Doyle Brunson but I hate Doyle Brunsons.”

Drawing Dead: When a player has no outs which could come to make a winning hand, they are said to be drawing dead. “Turn paired the board and I was drawing dead.”

Early Position: Players who are amongst the first to act post-flop are said to be in early position. “Early position is the best position to bluff from.”

Poker Table Accessories

Author: Fiona Jones

Poker is a game played with passion. Many poker pros have every arrangement in their homes for friendly games. Their homes may not be any less equipped than a casino. The relative ease with which all such accessories are found in stores makes it all the more simple to collect all of them. Needless to mention a set of good quality card needs to be bought to start with. There are various kinds to choose from but the plastic coated ones are most preferred. Some common poker table accessories are poker dealer buttons and Poker table drink Carts.

Poker dealer buttons come in different makes and designs .Digital dealer buttons are very popular because in most card clubs or even at home as well as in satellite poker tournaments time blinding  changes is always a huge challenge. For ages, players have used various ways to note the time between minimum bet increases. All kinds of things like the kitchen or microwave timers as even old-fashioned buzzer clocks and cell phone alarms have been used for this purpose. Digital dealer buttons are just the answer to this problem hence many use them.

The use of drink carts due to the convenience is quickly becoming very popular with the poker table community. The carts keep the table clear as also add a useful place for snacks and other things. The carts can be built to match tables so that the whole thing seems customized. Card shufflers too are great accessories to have along with a poker table however many don’t prefer automatic shufflers.

Poker chip card cover, poker button sets including the dealer button, the different blinds, killer buttons, transparent chip separators etc are some more accessories. Poker card covers and card guards to protect the player’s hands as well as the cards are popular too. Card face protectors are common as well in both homes and tournaments. Smart looking and varying quality tournament and game timers are available for takers.

Poker chip sets of different makes, designs and quality are available and a chip set is an integral accessory for a poker table. Poker chip set racks and cases made of either metal (mostly aluminium or steel) or wood are the next important set of accessories. Poker table cup holders are also preferred by some as the cups can be allowed to hang from them instead of being strewn around randomly.

A Review of Some Popular Poker Party Supplies

Author: Brian & Jeff

For the home poker players, every poker night is a party. Nowadays, any one can host their own poker parties with the appropriate supplies in tow. It is usually wise to stand by the basics of poker, insert in a little flair, and create this kind of party enjoyable for everyone. A poker game party can be a great experience to get acquainted with the neighbors as well if you are new in town. You can deal for real cash or just for fun. As poker is quickly becoming a sought-after activity, poker party supplies are in demand as well.

Some poker party supplies include a huge table with lots of chairs to squeeze in the guests. Consider adding some poker playing tips inscribed on the invitations to encourage your guests to participate in the party especially for those who are not familiar playing poker. Add some extras like pennies, used poker chips, or counterfeit coins to put across your message that your poker party is going to be fun and exciting.

To run things smoothly, supply yourself with the basic poker party supplies. They include clay poker chips, table seating cards, penalty cards, chip covers, card decks, even a face card protector, and of course, a poker table. Poker chips vary in colors so you can dole out unique values for each poker chip.

Table seating cards referred to as poker placement cards, usually seat your players fast and with more precision. Penalty poker cards are handed to those who do not follow poker rules accordingly and it is also a great way to have some organization. One of the most popular poker supplies are the face card protectors. Poker players use these items to secure their cards during gameplay.

Poker players may say that poker parties are not the same without beer in it. But you can also serve some non-alcoholic refreshments and drinks like chilled water, wine, and colas. Food supplies are staple of poker parties. Do not forget to pull that pizza out of the oven, have some submarine sandwiches prepared, finger foods with dips, and chips. Create a simple menu without the formalities since a great way to enjoy a poker night is to have that easygoing atmosphere, a tradition of every poker night.

But before playing a serious game of poker with your friends, check whether playing for real money is legal within your area. While some areas permit small stakes poker games among at home, some places have stricter gambling laws. It is a fine idea to note the risks of an open low stakes game. You certainly do not want to get raided during your poker parties. Of course, you can always opt to play for prizes instead.

After you have settled on whether the party will be for real or just for fun and preparing the appropriate poker party supplies, the next thing to check when preparing your poker party is the number of people who will be invited. This is essential because that will also establish the number of chairs and tables you will require for the party. Planning accordingly saves you enough time to flex your poker skills if ever a guest arrives early.
